Cornwall County Intermediate Floor and Vault Competition
After their recent success at the Cornwall County Novice floor and Vault competition, some of the gymnasts from the Callywith Gymnastics and Trampoline Centre in Bodmin, who made up the 15 and under team who became County team champions, have moved up to the next level of competition, the Cornwall County Intermediate Floor and Vault Competition, which was held at Swallows of Helston Gymnastics club on 22 April.
The three gymnasts that entered the competition, Chloe Ham, Megan Baker and Phoebe Roberts, performed really well, and the team won gold and became Cornwall County 15 and Under Intermediate Floor and Vault Champions. Phoebe Roberts also won the silver medal in the 15 years age group. The coaches from the Callywith Centre are very proud of all of the girls. Who are now working hard on their routines for their next competitions.
Since opening in October last year the new Gymnastics and Trampolining centre is going from strength to strength, many of the gymnasts and trampolinists are working towards competing in a variety of gymnastics and trampolining competitions across the County later this year.
The dance and fitness studio is also going from strength to strength, with the Ballet dancers working towards taking their first ballet exams later in the year and the fitness classes timetable is expanding every week, with new classes such as Boot Camp and Adult Ballet being added to the already existing Zumba and legs Bums and tums classes.
The Callywith Centre will also be attending the Olympic Torch Celebrations in Bodmin on the 19th May at the Fair Park, Corporation Road, from 1.00 p.m. until 6.00 p.m., culminating in the arrival of the Torch at 5.58 p.m.
GYMNASTS AND TRAMPOLINISTS BOUNCING TO NEW HEIGHTS AFTER SUCCESSFUL FUNDRAISER
Gymnasts and Trampolinists at the Callywith Centre in Bodmin, have been busy fundraising for some new equipment. They held a fun day last month, with a cake sale, a raffle and other activities, and they also did a sponsored bounce on the trampoline and a sponsored balance on the beam. They raised a total of £1458 which the club has put towards the purchase of another trampoline and beam.
The club would like to thank everyone for all their help with the fundraising and would like to say a special thank you to three members of the club, who did outstandingly well with their fundraising, Alison Warne, Charley-Anne Marshall and Tegan Trethewey and the club awarded each of them a hoodie for doing so well.
The club is fairly new, it has only been open for about 6 months, they are based on the Callywith Gate Industrial Estate, in Bodmin. Directors of coaching Denise Wilson and Lin Steppens are really pleased with how the event went, and the new trampoline and beam are already being put to good use by the members of the club, meaning that they all get more time to practice.
Since opening in October 2011 the Callywith Centre has gone from strength to strength, the club now has approximately 200 gymnasts and trampolinists attending weekly classes, they are all working really hard and improving every week. Many of them have already achieved certificates and badges from British Gymnastics and some of them have already represented the Callywith Centre in a Regional Gymnastics event. This weekend a number of gymnasts from the Callywith Centre will be competing in their first county gymnastics competition.
The Callywith Centre also offers a range of ISTD Ballet and Dance classes in their dance studio for both adults and children and a variety of fitness classes, from Zumba to Boot Camp.
